How are relationships between stepparents and stepchildren generally depicted in fiction or film?

Some children don't like their stepparents. It is the same with the stepparents. Some children like their stepparents but their stepparents don't like them. Some stepparents like the children but the children don't like them. There are many possibilities with families with the word step in it.
When Hamlets dad died, his mom married his dad's brother which is King Claudius. Hamlet didn't like the fact that King Claudius was now his stepdad in within two months of his fathers death. Hamlet didn't like his stepdad King Claudius. He felt betrayed by his mother because of the fact about the marriage with King Claudius. Hamlet didn't like King Claudius at all but King Claudius I think only pretended to like Hamlet.
These days in movies and real life there are many step's in families. There's a stepmom, stepdad, stepsister, etc. Some like eachother and some don't because either the kids think that the step- would be mean or they had done something to them or they think they won't like them just because. Conflicts and barriers that need to be overcomed by step- are that they need to overcome the that they will be a family now and that they have to like eachother in order to get along in the house. Some of my friends have a step parent of step siblings. They come to school everyday talking about how mcuh they hate them so much and that they wish their step- would just go and go away. I haven't had experience but I have listened to my friends stories.
Some kids don't like their step- because they miss their real parent. If it is a divorce then most kids are so mad that they say they don't care about the new parent and to go away that stuff. I've seen movies and I have heard about my friends step parent or brother/sister stories. They don't sound pretty. In movies they end up getting along but sometimes in real life they don't.
The advantages of having a new step- is that you get to start over your family and try to have it the way you dreamed of. You get to meet a new one and welcome them into your family. I mean I wouldn't mind having a step-, but they better be nice or I will go kung fu on them. I don't care who it is I will go angry on them if they aren't nice to me and my real siblings. They are the guest.

"Madness is great ones must not unwatched go."

The quote "Madness is great ones must not unwatched go" when I read that I think about what it means. What it means is that he is saying that the great ones should always be watched no matter what. The great ones in the Hamlet days were the King and the Queen. He says that they should be watched at all times.
I think that would be true in any age because each age we have had, there is some kind of leader. Those leaders need to watched who knows maybe because they could get assassinated or do something betraying to their people. When we didn't watch our great ones carefully they each dropped dead. For example, Martin Luther King got shot.
He was one of the great ones. He gave his "I have a dream" speech and many people came and gathered just to hear it. There was Abraham Lincoln. He was a president. He got killed while he was watching a opera I think it was. He wasn't watched carefully.
King Cladius when he says "great ones" he means presidents, senators, vice presidents, or just anyone that is important to the economy. The ones that helps keeps the economy stable while they are leader to protect them and watch them. King Claudius was a king back in his days. There was a thing known as murder and assassination. He was afraid he would get killed also.
After all Hamlets dad did get murdered. King Claudius was afraid of revenge, he didn't want to be killed but he wanted to be king. He just said that quote so it'd make him look all brave and not afraid of anything. He wanted it to look like it was just a simple order for his soldiers and knights. I believe it is so true though. If u don't watched your great ones then who knows what could happen. Society today keeps their looks on their great ones by guarding them and protecting them when they go out and stuff. President Orack Obama, he had a bulletproof thing on. He is one of the presidents most likely to get assassinated because he is the first African American president. Who wouldn't be jealous of that?

Are u a thinker or a doer?

If you ask me, I think that I am a little bit of both. It just depends on the situation that I am in. Many times I am a thinker though. Like when something is really like oh my god I can't decide I think really hard about it. Times when I am doer is when I am really sure it will work out and nothing will back fire at me.
I like to be different from people. If everyone liked the same thing it would be boring. I like some things that people like but then again I like other stuff that people would think eww or something. Not all people like the same stuff and want to be the same. They want to be a one of a kind thing. Unique is what they call it.
I have many situations on when I am a thinker. There are times when I am shopping and I can't decide on which item to buy, I think about which item would be more usefull and last for me. I am a doer when like I know something is absolutely right. I am also a doer when my friends like someone and I know that that someone likes them back. I hook them up is what I do. Most of the time I am a thinker. I got to think before I make the decision.

Should Parents spy on their kids?

I think that parents should spy on their kids. If they don't then they won't know what their kids are doing. Some kids don't are very bad. They don't listen to their parents and they think they don't need parents. I have friends who hates their parents and doesn't even want to go home by the thought of their parents being home.
I have mean thoughts about my parents to because of spying and everything. I hate them sometimes when they get on my frickin nerves but then again I still love them. If parents don't ever spy on their kids then who knows how the childrens would be now. Kids like to do bad things. It is what they think is fun. Only a little percentage of kids like to be good or be on their parents good side that I know of.
What if a kid was doing drugs right in his room and his parents didn't check up on him. Kids could be losing their virginity in their room and their parents wouldn't know because they are not spying on them. That is very bad. I think parents should spy on their kids like when someone they don't trust is over.Kids don't like their parents spying on them because of privacy invasion but then on the other hand if you really think about it, it is a good thing. I think that each parent should at least spy on their kids like once in a while. I don't agree with the whole 24/7 spying but like once in a while, that is good. My parents don't invade my privacy all the time. There are times when I think they are but really they have a good caru

Fatherly Advice (Hamlet)

Hamlet is getting advice on what I believe parents give to all their children. I have gotten advices very simular to those advices hamlet recieved. Before I was adopted I did many bad things. I stole food in order to survive. My old mom was never home to take care of me and my sister. The only thing my sister got from my mom was a heck of a beating. All she would do when she was home was lock us in our room. I was only 5 my sister was 6. My sister couldn't give me advice because she didn't know any. No one taught us. At the age of 6 the cops come and tell us that we have a new home.
When I got adopted, me and my sister went shopping for our first toys and got everything for our rooms. We got our beds and clothes and everything. Since I was so used to stealing food, when me and my family went to a food store I jacked a candy bar. My sister knew this and told on me to my parents. I was glad she did because if she didn't who knows what could have happened. They bought the candy for me and later when we got home they sat us both down and gave us a whole bunch of advice. From then on I knew what was right and what was wrong. They told me that stealing is not good and if we ever need anything they will be there for us. They also told me about everything else that I needed to know about. Cheating, Lying, Sharing all that talk that each child should know from their parents.
Hamlet is getting advice about being true to himself and not being someone he doesn't want to be. He is being told to be his one true self. Don't be who people want you to be. I have gotten those advices from my parents also. I think everyone that has a parent has been told advices some time in their life. It doesn't matter who gives it to you. It could be a father, mother, sister, brother, grandma, friend and many more. An advice is an advice. Most of the time it can be very helpful. I have given advice to my younger brothers and I have usedadvices.

Revenge

I truly believe that people still does revenges these days. Many people have thought of it or they went through with a revenge. I have gotten my revenge on my sister when I was like in 8th grade. It wasn't like a killing revenge. I would never kill someone just for revenge that is just plain stupid.
What she did to me was like yell and me and embarrass me in front of her boyfriend and my family so I later went in her room and hid some of her stuff. I moved her things around that she uses everyday that way she can't find it. I thought it was funny thing to do to her at the time. I was also mad to. So when she wasn't home I went in her room and moved all her stuff around and messed up her bed and everything.
Later when she comes home from going somewhere she goes in her room and thinks it is all normal. Her room was already messy. I just made it messier. Well that night when she was looking for her stuff she couldn't find it and she was searchin like crazy. She kept asking me and her boyfriend if we have seen her things. I just said no and when she left I would start giggling and grinning saying bad thoughts about her. I said things like that is what you get for messing with me b**** stuff like that.
Even though there isn't much news about revenge there is revenge. There will always be revenge as long as humans live. Revenge isn't a good thing but each human has had a revenge thought. It doesn't have to be killing revenge. It could be an embarass the person revenge or something like that. Killing revenges aren't good. Revenges are a good thought but everyone has them.

And There was One

I do believe that Naughton is right in a way. The part where he says "Detroit actually has parts worth saving." If the whole American car company goes bankrupt then how would it be for them in Detroit and some of the people who actually owns one of their cars. Just because if isn't you suffering doesn't mean that you shouldn't be worried because there may be a chance that this banruptcy could happen to your car dealership. I also believe that the whole American economy is just going down. It is crashing, possibly another depression who knows.
I think that instead of making the whole company go bankrupt to at least save a part of it. It doesn't have to be a whole lot but maybe some. If they took out a whole lot then that would be a crisis for the people who owns and are a part of that company. I don't drive yet luckily but I will soon in like a couple of months. My dad is getting me a Honda Civic possibly. I'd be prepared if I were a driver though because you never know what could happen.
If they ask for another bailout then that would be worse for the economy by the look of it today. We already had that other bailout and that caused the economy to go way down I wouldn't want to imagine another bailout. When I read Naughton's article it sounds like to me that he is for and against it. He has pros and cons but the same amount of each. That is how I am thinking as I read this article.

Program honored for getting children interested in college

The topic of students getting interested in college and actually going to college is important because how are they going to be able to get a job without a degree. They could get a job at like a fast food but that isn't going to help them much. It would help them buy some food and clothes but it will not help them with house payments. In fact they can't even get their own house without a degree and a good paying job. They have thoseprograms to actually help the students get interested and actually help them through the whole process if they are interested.
Shasta County has very little master degree because there is no university near our town. We have a Shasta College but no University. Statewide is more because there are colleges scattered across the state. Chico has a CSU but then that is far from here. I would think that there is a difference between the percentages because high schools here have the College options program. Recent data shows that when College options opened up their doors that a lot of students actually went to a college and gotten a degree.
Luckily we have the College Options program because without it, Shasta Countys pecentage of education for high schoolers going to college would probably be way smaller than it is now. I am actually very glad that they finally gotten a recognition for their work. Right now Shasta Countys percentage is 18.8%. Statewide Percentage is 29.5%. I really think that would kind of mean that Shasta County is doing a good job for right now. Shasta County alone has 18.8%. State wide is only 29.5% and that is statewide.
When I read the article and about how that some people have tested it( it being the number of percentage that high schoolers have actually advanced to college) and that the numbers didn't come out the same, I think that is probably because they are using another way to calculate the percentage. If you are going to calculate the percentages and want the same answer to the same problem then you might as well do it the same way. Of course it is going to come out as another answer because you didn't do the calculations right. I bet if the College options gave people who want to calculate the percentage the problem and how to calculate and explain it then the answers would come out the same.

"Bridge to Nowhere"

The Bridge to Nowhere is the name of the bridge that Alaska's bridge got named. It is so famous now because Sarah Palin kept mentioning or bragging about how she stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. After she did that The Bridge of Nowhere was back on the front page, exhibit A in Palin's reformist resume. The writers problem is that he really believe that there should be a bridge in alaska to the airport. He says that it will do them good.
He also mentions about how the population in Alaska increases because of cruises and how people visit the place. He mentions the numbers also. I was convinced when I read the article. He makes it sound like the Alaskians would really appreciate it if the government built a bridge so they have easy access. I would want that if I lived in Alaska. He writes about how if the bridge was made that it would improve big time. The population could actually expand instead of being all cramped in one area.
I don't get why they would stop the bridge from being made, I mean it can't do any harm besides alot of money would need to be deducted to make it. After all that ends I bet they would have a more better community then now without the bridge. The writer ends his article with we are not "nowhere". We are somewhere. In America. I really liked how he ended his article like that. It justs makes me feel like wow! they really do want and know that this bridge would improve their community.

Zakaria

Yes, I agree with Zakaria that we Americans need to save some money instead of consuming it all. What will people use when all their money is gone? If they save some money now and when the economy changes then they would be prepared for it. He says that we should save save save. We could spend some but not so much.
He also says to stop borrowing because if we keep on borrowing then the economy would go from bad to worse. It is already bad enough. He convinced me with his article to save my money and not use as much because of the way the economy is going right now. He talks about the debts people are going through. He talks about how that the economy has gone bad because of the people that keeps on borrowing money just to get something that they want. He convinced me that if it is not important then you don't need to but it.
For example a tv. A tv is not important. It is just to keep you entertained. You could just do something else to entertain yourself. You could read a book. You could go for a walk. You could do something that doesn't cost you anything. That would be what I would do.

The Worst Ads on TV

I agree with Stephen King all the way because the whole drug thing is just not right for people. They don't know the whole information about the Thalidomide medicine. If they see it on the ad of course they would be interested. I really believe that if you were to take a medicine on tv then you really should ask your doctor about it. Of course if people are ill or not feeling to good and they see a commercial ad on tv about something to make them feel better don't you think that they would listen to it and start to agree.
Stephen King is right all the way. Americans love a quick fix. They would be willing to take anything to make them feel all better or not tired. I really think that he couldn't be more right because he is worried about America. He is trying to warn people about all the ads on tv that has to do with medicine or to make you feel better. At the end of Kings article he writes about the different types of medicines that I normally see on tv. He puts their name title and then he put the side effects.
I really think that companies shouldn't be able to advertise their medicines on tv to fool the people. If you go to your doctor and talk about your symptoms and he thinks that a type of medicine might be able to help you then yes you could take it. After all a doctor is the person that helps you with medical stuff aren't they? I think it is cruel that people would even advertise that stuff that makes you all bad inside. If the medicine is harmful to youself or your child then I really think they shouldn't advertise it to consumers.

Samuelson's Point

Samuelsons main point is that he really believes that the economy is going down. He says it kind of feels like it is going to be the year when the stock market fell. He is also saying that the economy is going down is because of all the loaning of money, the borrowing and not paying back or like basically money we use as loans for like cars and furniture and all that stuff. Samuelson is also pointing out to the readers how much money was lost and in how much amount of time.
I believe that what Samuelson is thinking or believing right now is kind of true in a way. He says that some people may not realize it but the economy is not going so well right now. I believe that because of the way the economy is going right now with all the money problems in the background that the present day today is going to be the year 1929 all of a sudden.
In Samuelsons article you could kind of tell what you think his believes are because of the way it is written. He writes about how many bear markets we have had. How much money we have lost from something. He also wrote about how the economy went down by 15 percent from things like employment, bankruptcies and foreclosure, etc.

Where am I going after high school?

After high school I am gonna go to Shasta College for two years and then I am going to go and transfer to Chico State. I am going to go to Shasta College because in order to go to a University I have to have like all my math and english and all that stuff. I still need to complete somethings before I can get to a University. While I am in Shasta College I am going to take the class on their campus where youcould work there as a class.
They actually pay you. Mrs. Marlett told me about that class. My dad is also going to get me a job at the Win River Casino. I want to major in Teaching Kindergarteners or become a Culinary Cook. If I become a Culinary Cook then instead of going to Shasta College I will be going to a Culinary Arts School. Like The Le Cordon Bleu. I most likely would major in a teacher though. That is my first choice. Although I do want to be a Pasty Chef. Pastry Chef is my second choice in what I really enjoy doing. Teaching is my first choice because I really like to help little kids.
My parents always say that I would become a good Kindergarten Teacher because everytime I go to my brothers schools I always help out the little kids that need help. I go there when they have like a workshop thing going on. I like kids but I also like to bake. I will probably go and be a Pastry Chef later in my life. No need to rush for me. I am still young and living life.

Nice Bailout! Now Pay for It!!!

What I think about the bailout is just wrong. Who would bailout a $700 billion bail. That is just outrageous. It is so much money. Where does the government come to think that the people would want to bail out that company? If it was like a couple hundred or thousand dollar bail but 700 billion dollars!! whoo, now that is alot of money. Where are they getting this money to pay for the bail? Really taxpayers are paying for their butts. Maybe the government should ask the taxpayers whether or not they should bail out the company. Why do the CEOs get to walk out with money when the employees and them go and lose their job. Uhh...the economy we live in.

"How to fight binge drinking"

I totally agree with the whole lowering the age limit idea because it would really probably work. It isn't just that I like to drink or something it is because I feel that right now how when the age of drinking is 21 years old, teenagers are all sneaking in the wine, beer or whatever it is they drink. If the age was 18 years old they wouldn't have to do that. They would drink alot and then experience the tired ness after they drink a whole bunch of liquor.
How would it work? I don't really know but I kind of feel that it would work. Lowering the drinking age would probably excite all the teenagers and all but then later they wouldn't have to like try to steal beer or alcohol and get in trouble for it. If they lower the age they should also remind teenagers that even though the drinking age is 18 years old that there are also consequences. For example the whole drinking and driving dealio.
If you drink and drive then you die..kind of like that kind of consequences. You know scare them and all that. Teenagers can get pretty dumb so I kind of have doubts about the age lowering. If teenagers could prove that they aren't that stupid then it would be a good idea right away. See if it were me then I would be responsible. I don't really want to take my life away and really not someone elses life. I would regret it.
Maybe it is just me because of the type of person I am. See some people really don't care if they crash and just get injured but take away someones life they just continue on with it. So about the whole age lowering I am like a 50/50. I like it but then I really don't.

The Price of Our Addiction

I don't really know if we have an energy plan yet. Maybe we are making one and is not done creating the energy plan. What I think we should do is to you know just pay for the flow of gas throughout our place. We could also hire people and try to look for oil mines or something like that. I haven't really even thought about the whole no more gas or oil idea. I don't really know of an energy plan. All I know is that gas prices are going higher. Me and my family has already changed our driving habits. We only go somewhere when we really have to like mandatory or something. My parents never really did go out so they really can't change that. All we really do it just stay at home. Well they do I have no choice because I can't drive!!! For my families heating we use the heaters. From the big Amerigas tank outside. If we didn't have that we would just buy heaters from the store or something. We also have lots and lots of blankets to keep us warm. I see the hiring people to go look for oil mines and heaters and blankets fro heat is the best alternative or whatever that means.

Is the LHC the end of the world?

I think that they should just continue with their whole LHC project. They have already spent a whole bunch of money on making it and they took 13 years to make it. They really should continue on with it because if they are sucessful with it then "yay, lets go celebrate" but if the LHC isn't sucessful and instead ends the whole world then to bad. It is either go through with it and see if it works or just leave it on the off switch and wonder if it would ever had worked. They would have to pay back a whole lot of money if they didn't go through with it. If the LHC is as good as it sounds then it would help us solve most of the mysteries that we have about astronomy and how the earth is made or whatever questions we have that has to do with anything. I am not really worried about the LHC destroying the whole world because we are going to eventually die sometimes in our life. If the world does end it would be quickly not like someone shooting you and leaving you there to die kind of thing. It would probably be like 3 seconds. I imagine us turning to nothing. "lol:) I watch to much movies" I really think they should go on with the whole LHC project. Who knows if it is sucessful then people are gonna start becoming famous and rich.

Sir Tristan

Sir Tristan is a knight of King Arthur. His name mean "sorrow" because of his mother's death at his birth. Sir Tristan was really good at playing the harp, hunting, dancing and jousting. He is remembered from his love affair with Iseult. King Mark of Cornwall(his uncle) sent him to go to Ireland and escort Iseult back to to Cornwall to marry King Mark. During the way back, Sir Tristan and Isolde drank a love potion because they mistakened it for wine and then instead of King Mark and Iseult falling in love it was Sir Tristan and Iseult. King Mark and Iseult married eachother but then she was still having an affair with Tristan. Tristan was exiled from Cornwall. Sir Tristan and Iseult ran away and lived the rest of their days on the run. Legend has it that Sir Tristan was killed by King Mark when he was playing his harp for Iseult. Mark snuck in from behind and killed him with a dagger or a lance in the back. Their are many different stories about Sir Tristan and his love affairs. The Italian version of the story says that Sir Tristan and Iseult had two children.

My Heroes

I have three heroes. They are my mom, dad and sister. My mom and dad is my hero because they adopted me when I was six years old. I am really glad they did that. They basically saved my life. When I was not six years old yet it was just me and my sister. My biological mom was never home. She never bought groceries for us. She sometimes didn't pay the bills on time. We lived in a like apartment kind of place but no second story and they were all lined up. I don't know what that is called. Well my biological mom would always go out 24/7 and go gamble or go with other guys and leave me and my sister( a year older then me) at home. When my bio. mom was home she would lock us in the room and just lay on the couch with her boyfriend and watch movies( if you know what I mean). She would always abuse me and my sister. My sister took most of the abuse because she was older. My mom just hated her for some reason. Whatever she see was whatever she used. We were little so we didn't really know what we did for her to abuse us like that. Me and my sister Angela would always stay at home alone by ourselves. We had to steal food from the store across from our house to survive. I feel very bad that I did all that but it was either starve to death or steal food to live. My neighbors are my heroes to. I don't exactly remember them but yeah. They invited us to their house and play with their kids and gave us some food sometimes. I am really glad for the neighbors next door to us. They called the cops and told them that we were always home alone. That is when my parents heard about us and came to adopt us. I was afraid to get in their car when they came to get us but my sister urged me to go in. I am glad for that. Imagine if my neighbors never called the cops. My mom and dad now gives me the love and care that I need and never got. I want to thank them for that. They taught me things and manners. They have given me an education. I am really glad that they decided to adopt us.
My sister is also my hero because she took care of me when my bio. mom wasn't home. She tried to cook for me but couldn't because we were very little. She cut her hands trying. She was only like 5 or 6. My sister didn't get enough food to eat. Now she has to eat pills because she had very low iron. Well, my sister would take care of me like calm me to sleep when I was scared or crying for my mom at night. I don't know what I would have done without her. She took me the bus in the morning on some days because we didn't have an alarm clock so we didn't know when to wake up. She really just did everything that a sister would do if your mom wasn't there. I am really glad she was there. I have like a total of 8 brothers and sisters but my dad took them all and left me and my sister to my mom because we are the youngest. If my sister wasn't there for me I probably wouldn't be here typing this right now. I am glad for all my heroes.

Beowulf

When Beowulf was fighting Grendel and Grendels mother, he learned that they each had a different weak spot. Not only that he had skills. Instead of just trying to slash and stab at the monsters he watched a little and then attacked either on their weak spot or when they wouldn't know he would attack there. Beowulf used his skills mainly to destroy both monsters. The geats just cut the monsters but weren't able to wound them at all. Beowulf on the other hand thought about what he was doing and did it. If it weren't for Beowulf, I think eveyone would have died eventually. Wilgax was also a hero like Beowulf. He used his skills also. I thought that this story was a really good story. I thought that it would have been boring but it ended up to be pretty good.
